In most cases, micro needling is used to break down aged scar tissue while stimulating the proliferation of skin cells. As the skin cells begin to multiply, new layers of collagen and elastin fibers are formed. Since capillaries are positively affected, blood supply to the skin is also increased.

The procedure is commonly used to treat or improve conditions like pore size, skin texture, lax skin, wrinkles, fine lines and moderate to mild acne scarring. Microneedling also has the potential to reduce the appearance of your stretch marks.

How the Procedure Works

During the procedure, you will feel the device sliding along your skin. As it penetrates your upper skin layers, it reaches a maximum depth of two millimeters. The result is countless tiny wounds that are created by the needles. The wounds made by the needles force the body to respond to the skin damage with the creation of new collagen fibers and elastin. Your skin will thicken and plump, which reduces the appearance of scars, wrinkles, fine lines, and in this case stretch marks.

Before the procedure, your skin will be cleaned, and numbing cream will be applied, which reduces discomfort. The device used during the procedure has a disposable tip, which has 12 tiny needles attached to it. Once the treatment is finished, we might add hyaluronic acid or Vitamin C serum to soothe, protect and heal skin.

The Benefits of Micro needling

The procedure can cause a dramatic difference in how many active ingredients your skin is able to absorb. It stimulates collagen production and circulation. Since the procedure involves the use of titanium needles, you do not have to worry about allergic reactions.

It is a viable treatment option for all types of skin, which includes darker skin. The procedure can work well on the body, face, and scalp, and it is especially beneficial for individuals who have stretch marks.

Who Is An Ideal Candidate?

While the procedure can work well on virtually all skin types and colors, it is better suited for certain people. Micro needling is a procedure that can be used to treat sensitive areas that are difficult to treat with alternative methods.

If you have stretch marks or scarring, you could be an ideal candidate for the procedure. However, micro needling is not suitable for people who have a history of hypertrophic or keloid scars, poor wound healing or have used Accutane within the last three months. If you have open cuts, abrasions or wounds on your skin, you are also not a good candidate.

Most people will need anywhere from three to four treatment sessions for optimal results. It can take as many as five treatments to fade stretch marks effectively. At Pristine MedSpa Laser Center, we provide micro needling treatments to get rid of stretch marks.
