For people seeking fresher, younger-looking skin, Pristine Medical Spa in Ridgecrest offers micro-needling, a procedure that promotes new skin cell growth and repairs damaged skin.
Microneedling employs a pen featuring tiny, fine needles that promote the formation of new skin tissue and collagen. As new capillaries form, blood flow is improved to give you the great fresh look you’ve been searching for.
Microneedling can help combat and reduce:
- Scars
- Sagging skin
- Fine lines
- Wrinkles
- Melasma
- Stretch marks
At Pristine Medical Spa, our team will work with you to develop the best treatment plan for your skin. Contact us today to learn more.
How Does Microneedling work?
The medical pen glides along your skin and penetrates upper layers to create tiny needle marks. This causes your body to create new collagen. Skin then thickens and plumps to decrease wrinkles, scars, and fine lines. The tiny needle marks close quickly and is not noticeable after treatment.
What Can I Expect During Treatment?
Your skin will be cleaned and in some cases, we use a numbing cream to decrease any slight discomfort you may feel. The medical pen’s needles pierce the skin, but we use special products to protect skin from any damage.
Most patients may have some redness and slight swelling for a day or two after treatment. But after a week or so, you will see smoother and more radiant skin. Best results will appear a few months after treatment.
After Treatment
Your skin may be red or pink for up to 48 hours after micro-needling. You should use sunblock on treated areas and use mineral makeup.
Other great aspects of micro-needling include:
- It’s less expensive compared to some other resurfacing techniques.
- Micro-needling can be done on any skin type.
- It can be performed on your face, scalp, and other parts of the body.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Microneedling can be performed safely every four to six weeks until you get the results you’re looking for. How many treatments are needed varies based on the individual needs and goals of the patient? The Pristine Medical Spa team will offer you guidance on the best treatment regimen for you.
Are There Risks of Infection?
Because the tiny needle marks created during treatment close within an hour and the procedure is performed under the safest conditions, infections are extremely rare.
Are There Side Effects?
No negative side effects have been reported from the more than 150,000 procedures performed around the world.
Am I Good Candidate for Microneedling?
Micro-needling is safe for all skin types and colors. The risk of pigment change is minimal and micro-needling can be used on areas of the body that are tough to treat with other medical procedures.
The areas near your eyes, neck, and back of your hands can all benefit from microneedling.
Not everyone can receive microneedling treatment.
People who are not suitable for treatment include:
- Those who have used Accutane within the past 90 days.
- Those with cuts, open wounds or abrasions on their skin.
- Patients who have undergone radiation treatment on their skin within the past 12 months.
- Those with skin infections or herpes symptoms in the area they want treated.
- Women who are pregnant.
- Women who are breast feeding.
But the vast majority of patients can benefit from microneedling treatments.
If you want to improve your skin and regain the fresh and youthful look you once had, microneedling may be the procedure you need.
